Happy Belated Birthday to Us – Saving Buyers & Sellers Beaucoup $$ Since 2009

March 31st, 2014 by Marc Holmes

WaLaw Jersey (1280x720)So we’re very excited to be sponsoring our first sports team – Teeball in Magnolia – and it’s not too surprising that my 5 year old son picked this number for his jersey.  I took this photo a few days ago and have looked at umpteen times since but only now did it dawn on me that we’re 5 too!  WaLaw Realty was officially formed in February 2009.  Perhaps I overlooked it because I’ve always considered our start date to be when we rolled out the website which was late that summer.

In any case this seems like as good a time as any to reflect on the past 5 years.

–          $134,858,159 in total sales volume

–          $2,860,535 in buyer rebates and seller commission savings

–          Average buyer purchase price – $688,619

–          Average seller sales price – $568,657

–          Average buyer rebate – $14,038

–          Average seller savings – $12,239

–          Most expensive buyer purchase – $3,100,000 with a rebate of $65,844

–          Most expensive listing sold – $1,700,000 with a commission savings of $34,245

–          Least expensive buyer purchase – $168,000

–          Least expensive listing sold – $115,737

And we did all of this with a fraction of the staff and overhead of traditional brokerage companies.  Boo yah!!

I am incredibly lucky to have an incredible staff and the best clients in the world.  I can’t wait to see what the next five years brings!

Magnificent in Magnolia – Saturday Open House at our new listing

April 6th, 2012 by Claire

This is a truly outstanding home, just listed and open Saturday 4/7 from 1-4. It’s not often you come across one like this, so come visit us and see it for yourself. Please allow us to entice you with the preview video.

Sophisticated and chic, this spectacular home boasts gorgeous interiors, views of the Olympics and Sound, and a huge backyard and garden. This impressive home was renovated for modern living and incorporates an open floor plan opening onto a westerly deck perfect for summer days and nights. Other highlights: gourmet kitchen, formal living, office, media room, central A/C. High-tech features: CAT6 Ethernet hardwired, HDMI 1.4a, whole-house music and lighting automation capability.

Buyers, you can save money when you buy from a WaLaw seller!  If our sellers don’t have to pay the commission to a buyer’s agent, they can pass the savings on to you.  If you don’t have a real estate agent yet, speak with this seller first.  You may be able to use a lawyer rather than an agent to buy the house, which will save you money.

WOW! Our March Free Homebuyer Class is Nearly SOLD OUT!

March 14th, 2012 by Marc

Next Free Home Buying Seminar is April 18

WaLaw Realty continues its series of Free Homebuyer Classes on March 21st and April 18th.

We’re thrilled at the response to our second free homebuyer class set for March 21.  We’ve had 20 people reserve a seat, although two have cancelled so we still have two seats available.  If you hurry, you might still be able to secure one of them.  Otherwise, reserve your seat now for the April 18 class.  Our Topic?

Is the Home Seller Responsible?

We’ll be discussing the various ways in which a seller might be liable to the buyer after closing.  Needless to say, this is an excellent class for sellers as well.  As always, though, the real focus will be on the questions asked by the attendees.  Our number one goal is to insure that all questions are answered.  Oh, and that everyone gets a beverage and a slice of pizza, too…

We hope to see you!

What Every First Time Home Buyer Should Know

WaLaw Realty Continues Its Spring Series of Free Homebuyer Classes on March 21

WaLaw’s next free class for home buyers — sellers welcome too! — is Wednesday March 21.  Once again we’ll have free pizza and beverages (both kinds) so we can stay focused on the topic at hand rather than our grumbling tummies.  The class will again take place at our office in Lower Queen Anne.

Seminar for First-Time Home Buyers

This month’s topic: What every first time home buyer should know before buying a house.  We’ll talk about the buying process from start (getting pre-qualified for a loan) to finish (turning YOUR keys to open YOUR door), including “traps” for the unwary.  For example, did you know that the IRS requires the buyer to determine whether the seller is a foreigner and thus subject to taxation?  And if the seller IS a foreigner, the law requires the BUYER to withhold 10% of the sale price and to forward those funds to the IRS?  Learn about this legal obligation that most buyers (and almost all agents) do not appreciate.

As always, we’ll make sure everyone’s questions are answered before the night is over.  So come meet Marc and learn about the homebuying — and selling — process.  Reservations appreciated but not required.  We hope to see you!!

Our First Free Homebuyer Class is Feb 15

We’ll also be discussing our unique business model in the real estate industry and how you can save thousands of dollars by using our flat rate real estate brokerage services.  Attendance is free, and reservations are appreciated but not required.  We hope to see you!

Looking for a Home Buyer Seminar in Seattle?

UPDATE: All remaining classes will be focused on issues relevant to First Time Homebuyers.  New, updated topics below.

Your Next Home? Join us for our Home Buyer Seminars in Seattle

WaLaw Realty is offering free workshops for Seattle and Eastside home buyers again in 2012. Join us at our offices in Lower Queen Anne on Wednesday, May 16 and June 20 at 6 pm.

Once again, WaLaw Realty is offering a free home buying workshop to anyone interested in learning more about the Washington home buying process or WaLaw Realty.  In fact, we’re offering five of ’em!  These classes will run from 6pm to about 8pm here at our new office in Lower Queen Anne.  We’ll provide pizza, beer and soda.

Whether you’re a first time homebuyer or an old pro, you’ll undoubtedly learn something new at these free home buying classes.  Plus, you’ll learn about the WaLaw model that combines the services of a real estate agent with the skills of an attorney, all for a fee substantially less than what you would pay a typical agent.  Are you a seller?  Don’t worry, you’ll still pick up some valuable information, and of course we’ll answer your questions.

Free Home Buyer Seminars for 2012:

Each class will have a unique theme, although every class will be driven primarily by the interests and questions of the attendees.  We like talking — we hate lecturing!  So even if you think you know everything there is to know about a particular theme, we’re confident you’ll still be glad you came.  Our schedule:

February 15: The State of the Market  This was a great class where we shared our insight and opinions on the current and future state of the local housing market.

March 21: What Every First Time Home Buyer Should Know  What are the important steps in the process?  Where do I start?  How can I save a ton of money?  And any other question you might have….  THIS CLASS IS SOLD OUT  Feel free to stop by, but we can’t guarantee a seat.

April 18: Is the Seller Responsible?  This home buying workshop will also benefit sellers who want to learn more about their potential exposure to a buyer after closing.

May 16: Traps for the Unwary First Time Home Buyer  While not exactly “traps” there are certain legal issues that could be a very unpleasant surprise to a naive buyer.  Learn about them so you can avoid them.  Plus, we’ll address other common issues relating to the homebuying experience, and we’ll make sure all your questions are answered.

June 20: Financing for the First Time Home Buyer: Where to Get It, What Happens if It Fails  Most everyone needs to borrow money to buy a home.  Come to this home buying class to learn about some of the ins and outs of the financing process and how the contract can protect you if your financing fails.  Plus we’ll address other issues that might surprise a first time home buyer, and we’ll make sure all your questions are answered.  REGISTER AND GET DIRECTIONS TO OUR JUNE 20 HOME BUYER CLASS  »
