WaLaw Realty is Now on the Puget Sound Business Journal’s List of Top 25 Residential Real Estate Firms

April 20th, 2012 by Claire

We received some great news on this otherwise overcast and dreary Friday afternoon, today the Puget Sound Business Journal released its current issue listing the top residential real estate firms, and we’re on it! For being a small and relatively new boutique firm, we’re awfully proud of ourselves for posting numbers in competition with some of the larger real estate companies.

We are busier than ever, thanks to our Seattle home buyers and sellers who have realized the benefits and savings of using  WaLaw Realty. Check out this blog post by Craig explaining why we’re the better choice. Go us!

Second chance to view this beautiful home – OPEN HOUSE Sunday 4/15, 1-4 p.m.

April 13th, 2012 by Claire

Good news – if you  missed it last weekend, you have another chance to come see this beautiful home. This is a truly outstanding home, just listed and open Sunday 4/15 from 1-4. It’s not often you come across one like this, so come visit us and see it for yourself. Please allow us to entice you with the preview video.

Sophisticated and chic, this spectacular home boasts gorgeous interiors, views of the Olympics and Sound, and a huge backyard and garden. This impressive home was renovated for modern living and incorporates an open floor plan opening onto a westerly deck perfect for summer days and nights. Other highlights: gourmet kitchen, formal living, office, media room, central A/C. High-tech features: CAT6 Ethernet hardwired, HDMI 1.4a, whole-house music and lighting automation capability.

Buyers, you can save money when you buy from a WaLaw seller!  If our sellers don’t have to pay the commission to a buyer’s agent, they can pass the savings on to you.  If you don’t have a real estate agent yet, speak with this seller first.  You may be able to use a lawyer rather than an agent to buy the house, which will save you money.

WaLaw Buyer’s Agent Commission Rebate: 81% More than Redfin Rebate on $500,000 Home

April 2nd, 2012 by Claire

It’s official, WaLaw Realty is 81% better than Redfin.

Did anyone else notice that Redfin has recently brought a new pricing structure to Seattle?

They now rebate between 15% to 50%, with more expensive homes getting a larger percentage.  What that means to you: On a $500k house with a 3% commission, the rebate is $5,364, compared to our $9,739.  Our rebate is 81% larger than theirs.

It seems like Redfin is making it even easier for you to make the smart choice by using WaLaw Realty.

They say all press is good press, especially when it IS good press!

March 28th, 2012 by Claire

The Seattle PI recently published this press release on the success of WaLaw Realty, and our clients!

Would you believe that since this was published, we have now exceeded projections by 250%? It seems like the word is spreading about how WaLaw Realty offers a unique and valuable service, all while saving you money.

If you want to know what all the buzz is about, come visit us at our next FREE home buyer (and seller) class on April 18th.  Our last class sold out, so be sure to register early.

In the meantime, we will keep working hard to do what we do best by providing excellent real estate service and trusted legal advice, and why not top it off with a lot of money back in our clients pockets?!

WaLaw is HIRING!

March 23rd, 2012 by Craig

The Spring Buying Season has apparently sprung, which means we’ve got lots of new business.  Hooray!  But that means we’ve got a lot of work on our hands.  And since we keep the old adage “work to live, not live to work” in mind (it can be tough sometimes!) we could use an extra pair of helping hands.  And a SUPRA key and a driver’s license.  So if you or anyone you know is interested in being a part of the WaLaw revolution (Viva!) shoot me or Marc an email.  We’re looking for a licensed real estate agent who loves working with clients and who wants the assurances of an hourly position.  That’s right, no more “farming” so you can focus on your real job, helping our clients buy or sell a home.  We’d love to hear from you if you’re interested.  [First aptitude test: find my email address! ;-) ]

Free Home Buyer Seminar – March 21

February 21st, 2012 by Craig

What Every First Time Home Buyer Should Know

WaLaw Realty Continues Its Spring Series of Free Homebuyer Classes on March 21

WaLaw’s next free class for home buyers — sellers welcome too! — is Wednesday March 21.  Once again we’ll have free pizza and beverages (both kinds) so we can stay focused on the topic at hand rather than our grumbling tummies.  The class will again take place at our office in Lower Queen Anne.

Seminar for First-Time Home Buyers

This month’s topic: What every first time home buyer should know before buying a house.  We’ll talk about the buying process from start (getting pre-qualified for a loan) to finish (turning YOUR keys to open YOUR door), including “traps” for the unwary.  For example, did you know that the IRS requires the buyer to determine whether the seller is a foreigner and thus subject to taxation?  And if the seller IS a foreigner, the law requires the BUYER to withhold 10% of the sale price and to forward those funds to the IRS?  Learn about this legal obligation that most buyers (and almost all agents) do not appreciate.

As always, we’ll make sure everyone’s questions are answered before the night is over.  So come meet Marc and Craig, WaLaw’s founders, and learn about the homebuying — and selling — process.  Reservations appreciated but not required.  We hope to see you!!

And thank goodness, because I’ve already given up on the gym.

We have had a great start to the year here at WaLaw Realty, with three new closings already this month. Check out what we’ve been busy working on….

Our buyer clients purchased this stately Victorian home overlooking Fauntleroy Cove and saved $6834, that’s a lesson in the era of elegance and economics!

And look at this beautifully remodeled Newport Hills home that sent $7399 back to our buyers.

And let us not forget our WaLaw sellers, who listed this stunning Bainbridge Island home with us and received a rebate of $8212 at closing!

If your New Year’s resolution is to save money, then you’ve come to the right place. At WaLaw Realty, you can buy your dream home and get money back, so far saving our clients $1,170,784…to be exact.

Your Next Home? Join us for our Home Buyer Seminars in Seattle

WaLaw Realty is offering free workshops for Seattle and Eastside home buyers again in 2012. Join us at our offices in Lower Queen Anne on Wednesday, May 16 and June 20 at 6 pm.

Once again, WaLaw Realty is offering a free home buying workshop to anyone interested in learning more about the Washington home buying process or WaLaw Realty.  In fact, we’re offering five of ‘em!  These classes will run from 6pm to about 8pm here at our new office in Lower Queen Anne.  We’ll provide pizza, beer and soda.

Whether you’re a first time homebuyer or an old pro, you’ll undoubtedly learn something new at these free home buying classes.  Plus, you’ll learn about the WaLaw model that combines the services of a real estate agent with the skills of an attorney, all for a fee substantially less than what you would pay a typical agent.  Are you a seller?  Don’t worry, you’ll still pick up some valuable information, and of course we’ll answer your questions.

Free Home Buyer Seminars for 2012:

Each class will have a unique theme, although every class will be driven primarily by the interests and questions of the attendees.  We like talking — we hate lecturing!  So even if you think you know everything there is to know about a particular theme, we’re confident you’ll still be glad you came.  Our schedule:

February 15: The State of the Market  This was a great class where we shared our insight and opinions on the current and future state of the local housing market.

March 21: What Every First Time Home Buyer Should Know  What are the important steps in the process?  Where do I start?  How can I save a ton of money?  And any other question you might have….  THIS CLASS IS SOLD OUT  Feel free to stop by, but we can’t guarantee a seat.

April 18: Is the Seller Responsible?  This home buying workshop will also benefit sellers who want to learn more about their potential exposure to a buyer after closing.

May 16: Traps for the Unwary First Time Home Buyer  While not exactly “traps” there are certain legal issues that could be a very unpleasant surprise to a naive buyer.  Learn about them so you can avoid them.  Plus, we’ll address other common issues relating to the homebuying experience, and we’ll make sure all your questions are answered. REGISTER AND GET DIRECTIONS TO OUR MAY 16 HOME BUYER CLASS »

June 20: Financing for the First Time Home Buyer: Where to Get It, What Happens if It Fails  Most everyone needs to borrow money to buy a home.  Come to this home buying class to learn about some of the ins and outs of the financing process and how the contract can protect you if your financing fails.  Plus we’ll address other issues that might surprise a first time home buyer, and we’ll make sure all your questions are answered.

Register today for our next Home Buying Class

Registrations for our May class are now available. Click here for a MAP & DIRECTIONS and to RSVP.  Registration is appreciated but not required.  We’ll be setting up the other classes as time rolls on, and we’ll make sure to blog about each one when they’re open for registration.  We look forward to seeing you!
