WaLaw Homebuyer Seminars a Screaming Success! We’re Already Planning for 2012

July 22nd, 2011 by Marc

We recently finished up our 2011 Free Homebuyer Seminar Series, and it was a raging success!  What did we learn?

  1. Pizza and beer trumps cookies and soda by a very wide margin; and
  2. If we offer pizza and beer, apparently people will come to us (at our office) and we don’t need to go to them (at libraries/community centers around the area).

So to summarize, Pizza and Beer ROCK!  You’d think I would have learned that lesson in college.

Given the success, we’re already thinking about our 2012 series.  We will, of course, keep you posted as the schedule comes together late this year or early next.

Thank you to EVERYONE who took the time to attend our classes.  And for those of you who missed out — you also missed out on some cool WaLaw swag (in addition to the cookies/soda/pizza/beer).  I hope you’ve all learned your lessons and you make it to one of classes in 2012….

Condo Buyers Checklist – If You’re Buying a Condo in Seattle, Download Our Condo Buying Checklist PDF

July 16th, 2011 by Marc

Recently, we created a checklist for condo buyers as a post on the WaLaw Realty blog. This month we created the same condo buyers checklist in PDF format — so that it’s easier to download and print.

Our checklist covers all the questions you need to ask when buying a condo: everything you need to know before closing the sale. There’s a lot to consider! Like the delinquency rates of your neighbors, for example, and restrictions that might apply to renting out your condo. It’s best to find out about things like this before you sign.

And there are a number of important legal considerations and documents you should review, like the Reserve Study and the Declaration. Heard of these? Best to find out what they are sooner rather than later!

Our final Free Homebuying Seminar (sellers welcome too!) will happen July 20, 6:30 – 8:30 pm, at the WaLaw office, 2033 Sixth Ave., Ste. 990.  We’re kicking it up a notch or two this time – we’ll have pizza and beer!  We’ll still talk about the state of the current market, financing options (with Tom Goldsmith of Cobalt Mortgage), and how you can save lots of money in the transaction while protecting your legal interests.  But this time, instead of soda and cookies we’ll have some delicious NW microbrew on hand and fantastic pizzas from Serious Pie.  This is a great chance to meet Marc and Craig in a very informal setting.  Both buyers and sellers will learn lots of great information about the WaLaw model and the services we provide.  And did I mention the pizza and beer?  :-)

If you are planning to buy or sell your home this spring, you know that the real estate market has changed considerably. What’s an “REO”? What’s a “short sale”? How do foreclosures affect market values? Know your options!

Home Buyer Checklist - WaLaw Realty

Buying a home is stressful. It’s probably the biggest purchase of your life – at least until your next home – and you want to get it absolutely, perfectly right. Big money + big decision = big stress, which can in turn cause you to miss something important. Accordingly, it’s a good idea to use a home buyers checklist to make sure you’re doing everything you need to do to have the best chance at success.

When you hire the real estate broker/lawyer team at WaLaw Realty, we give you a Home Buyer Checklist designed to make sure we’re all on the same page and addressing all of the issues that may arise in the purchase. Our Home Buyer Checklist captures the many legal issues, such as title review, that sometimes fall through the cracks when you don’t have a real estate lawyer assisting you with your home purchase. This sort of checklist is particularly important when your purchase of a house or condo involves a special real estate transaction such as a short sale, foreclosure or bank owned (“REO”) property.

We’ve created a “lite” – but still very useful and informative – version of our checklist to give you an idea as to how this tool can help you through the home buying process. This free checklist notes the various steps in the buying process and, particularly if you are a first time home buyer, will give you a good idea about the steps ahead. Click here to download the home buyers checklist PDF.

If you’d like to learn more about the home buying checklist we use with our clients, or how we can help you buy a home while saving money in the process, Contact Us here or call (206) 357-4224.
